E.DSO Board of Directors meets back-to-back with CIRED and welcomes 2 new members
6 June 2019, Madrid. E.DSO hosted today its second Board of Directors meeting of 2019 in Madrid, where the CIRED conference has been taking place since the beginning of the week, including many contributions from E.DSO’s membership. Two new members were welcomed by the Board of Directors and have joined E.DSO: Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks) of Northern Ireland and Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius (ESO) of Lithuania.
NIE Networks, a subsidiary of Ireland based ESB Group, is the owner of the electricity transmission and distribution networks in Northern Ireland, transporting electricity to over 860,000 customers. Managing Director, Paul Stapleton, will represent the company on the E.DSO Board of Directors.
ESO is the main DSO in Lithuania which was established 2016 merging two companies (AB LESTO and AB Lietuvos Dujos). ESO is controlled by state-owned group of energy companies “Lietuvos Energija”. The company operates on a wide area covering most of the country’s territory and provides electricity to more than 1.6 million customers and natural gas more than 0.6 million customers. ESO will be represented at E.DSO by Mindaugas Keizeris, CEO and Chairman of the Board.
With these new additions, E.DSO now gathers 41 Distribution System Operator companies and 3 national associations, connecting more than 75% of the metering points throughout the EU.
