E.DSO first 2019 Board of Directors welcomes three new members
26 March 2019, Brussels. In their first meeting of the year 2019 E.DSO’s Board of Directors welcomed three new members to the Association. They add to the E.DSO family of DSOs which have been constantly growing since the foundation of the Association in 2010. With ESB Networks DAC from Ireland, areti S.p.A. from Italy, and Viesgo Distribución Eléctrica S.L. from Spain, E.DSO now encompasses 39 of Europe’s leading DSOs in addition to 3 national associations. ESB Networks was founded in 1927 and is with its 2.3 million connected customers the largest DSO in Ireland. ESB has been tasked by the Irish Commission of Regulation of Utilities with the rollout of smart meters at national level starting from the fall of 2019. ESB was represented at the board by Paddy Hayes, who thanked E.DSO for accepting the membership anticipating fruitful future cooperation. E.DSO’s new Italian member, areti, forms part of the ACEA group – an Italian multi utility which covers water and electricity networks management and development as well as environmental management services. areti is based in Rome and has about 1.6 million connection points in the Italian capital. areti has since 2015 been leading the modernization of the distribution network in Rome as well as in the Roman suburb Formello from a smart city point of view. Lastly, Viesgo Distribucion Electrica, represented by Miguel Antoñanzas, as well expressed their satisfaction with becoming member of E.DSO looking forward to taking part in the work of the association. Viesgo distributes electricity in Spanish regions of Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia as well as in the North of Castilla and Leon serving 693.000 customers. All three new members have stated their interest and commitment to contributing to the work of E.DSO, and to participate and provide input to the Policy, Projects and Technology Committees. |
