E.DSO welcomes the European Commission’s Action Plan on the Digitalisation of the energy sector. Digitalisation is vital for DSOs, not only to manage more efficiently their network and empower customers but also to allow a greater RES penetration and reach the EU climate targets. For this reason, DSOs have already entered the digital decade with the introduction of smart meters and AI technologies at the distributional level.
Together with its members, E.DSO provided a response to the European Commission’s consultation survey on the Digitalisation of the energy sector, which touches upon central issues for DSOs such as cybersecurity, data-sharing and customers’ needs.
