E.DSO welcomes the Parliament’s progress on the Fit for 55 package in view of the publication of the ITRE and TRAN Committees’ draft reports on the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) and the Regulation on the Deployment of Alternative Fuels Infrastructure (AFIR). We acknowledge the improvements in the files which show recognition of the role of electricity networks for the success of the energy transition, and which demonstrate a clear commitment to the building of a decentralised and integrated energy system under a holistic approach to energy efficiency. Nevertheless, E.DSO would like to propose several recommendations about the way the legislative files can be further improved to better equip DSOs to contribute to the energy transition to the best of their potential.
