Switchgear holds a crucial role in ensuring the security of electric grids, and the demand for millions of units is imperative to achieve the decarbonization goals of the European Union.
As the electricity industry forges ahead, prioritizing SF6-free equipment, we must remain vigilant not to undermine our decarbonization commitments due to potential shortcomings in the availability of technically viable, timely, and economically feasible solutions with reduced Global Warming Potential (GWP) or alternative non-F-gas options. In anticipation of the trilogue discussions scheduled on 5 October 2023, the Energy Industry Coalition (CEDEC, CER, E.DSO, Eurelectric, GEODE, nucleareurope and WindEurope) makes a fervent call for a consistent F-gas Regulation.
We stand in solidarity with the Council’s dedication to fostering an environment conducive to switchgear production and operation, a commitment that resonates with the pursuit of clean electrification across the EU.
