On 30 April 2021, E.DSO, ESMIG, EHPA and Eurelectric co-signed a joint statement on e-Privacy Regulation. While the statement highlights the importance of the text adopted by the Council, it equally underlines that the current Regulation might heavily undermine and delay Europe’s 2030 climate & energy and ‘Digital decade’ objectives.
In this regard, the co-signatory organisation would like to offer further advice to the Portuguese Presidency and make the following key observations:
- e-Privacy Regulation must not contradict DSOs’ missions.
- e-Privacy should not hinder sustainable and innovative services.
- The EU should ensure a secure and efficient digital environment in the energy sector.
