‘Is EU regulation supporting the cyber revolution for the energy sector?’

The Association of European Distribution System Operators (E.DSO) and the European Association of Smart Energy Solution Providers (ESMIG) hosted the ‘Is EU regulation supporting the cyber revolution for the energy sector?’ on 16 May 2023.

European legislation on Cyber Security has a fundamental impact on the energy sector and the utility industry, in particular on critical infrastructures such as smart grids with an increasing number of connected IT components. In addition to the Cyber Security Act, the Network Code on Cyber Security and the NIS Directive, new legislation and extensions are in the pipeline. As an example, the latest Delegated Act for the Radio Equipment Directive foresees the development of harmonised standards with security requirements.

E.DSO-ESMIG webinar aimed at providing insight in the current Cyber Security legislation, with a focus on further developments, plans and interrelations. With the contribution of relevant speakers from the European Institutions and Stakeholders, our event hinted at possible conclusions on how the European legislation could be streamlined, avoiding overlaps and cost increase.
