The Truth about Sector Coupling
Webinar – 20 September 2021, 14:30-16:30 CEST
Sector coupling is a cornerstone component of energy system integration, an instrument to establish functioning links and interconnections between the various energy sectors and turn them into an integrated and organic ‘whole’.
On 20 September, E.DSO, the Association for European Distribution System Operators, and GD4S, Gas Distributors for Sustainability jointly organised the conference “The Truth about Sector Coupling”. This webinar aimed to encourage and extend the debate on sector coupling and its challenges by exploring new and innovative ideas and technologies which could facilitate the coupling of the electricity and gas sectors. Questions such as “Does the current EU regulatory framework allow for efficient interaction between electricity and gas sectors?” or “How to close the gaps preventing the efficient linking of the electricity and gas sectors?” were discussed.
Among confirmed speakers, we counted on Christof Lessenich from the European Commission, Christian Buchel, Chair of E.DSO, Paolo Gallo, CEO of GD4S, as well as several private and civil sector experts.
Presentations of the event are available on this link and the full recording of the webinar can be watched here.
