While smart meters play a key role in overcoming the challenges faced by distribution grids, in line with the European General Data Protection Regulation, electricity consumption data of consumers shall be safeguarded as personal data. In response to this, Enedis has developed DeepCourboGen, a privacy-enhancing technology allowing the (re)use of smart metering data while strictly guaranteeing customer privacy protection.
DeepCourboGen uses generative AI to generate realistic synthetic smart metering data while removing all traces of real data. This open innovation initiative will allow academics and market players to design innovative energy services in response to the challenges posed by the energy transition.
